In most dwellings, the heat source providing the domestic hot water is also the heat source providing space heating. These are known as combination heaters, as they provide a combination of space heating and water heating.
Fossil fuel boilers, both regular boilers, which require a hot water store such as a cylinder to provide water heating, and combi-boilers, which contain an internal water store are dealt with in the space heating section here.
Combination heat pumps are dealt with in the heat pump section of space heating.
